Day 1
Arriving in Antalya & Discovering Our Mediterranean Escape
Our journey to Antalya started with a reminder that travel rarely goes exactly as planned. After leaving Athens, a delayed flight through Istanbul pushed our arrival later than expected, and by the time we finally touched down at Antalya Airport around 2 a.m., exhaustion had officially taken over. Even collecting our luggage came with a little unexpected adventure when our bags appeared on a completely different belt designated for non-direct flights.
Thankfully, relief quickly replaced the stress when we found our luggage and spotted our pre-arranged transfer waiting for us. In moments like these, having transportation already organized makes all the difference. There was no searching for taxis, figuring out directions, or navigating a new country half asleep—we simply climbed into the car and made our way toward Lara Barut Collection.
By the time we arrived at the resort, our only mission was sleep. But waking up the next morning completely changed the tone of the trip. What had started as a chaotic travel day suddenly became exactly what we imagined when we pictured our honeymoon.
Our first introduction to Lara Barut Collection’s dining experience was the breakfast buffet, and it immediately set the standard high. Fresh pastries, Turkish specialties, colorful displays of fruit, made-to-order omelets, and endless options filled the room. It was the kind of breakfast where you wander around multiple times because you keep discovering something new.
“Antalya was the kind of place where a slow resort morning could turn into a once-in-a-lifetime adventure by sunrise.”
The rest of the day was spent exploring everything the resort had to offer—and there was a lot. Between nine pools, lagoon-style swimming areas, an aquapark, a private beach, endless restaurants, bars, activities, outdoor movies, live performances, and peaceful spaces tucked throughout the property, it felt impossible to run out of things to do.
We slowly transitioned into honeymoon mode, trading our busy travel pace for poolside drinks, ocean views, and simply enjoying the moment. The highlight of the day was our spa experience. The massage was so relaxing that William actually started snoring halfway through, which honestly might be the highest compliment you can give a spa.
The resort exceeded our expectations so much that we decided to extend our stay by an extra night—something we almost never do. It was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the beginning of married life.

Day 2
Exploring Antalya’s Old Town & Stepping Into History
After a day of pure relaxation, we were ready to experience another side of Antalya. Beyond the beautiful beaches and resort atmosphere lies a city filled with thousands of years of history, and the best place to experience that is Kaleiçi—Antalya’s charming Old Town.
We booked a guided tour and were lucky enough to spend the day with Önder, a guide who immediately brought the city to life. His humor, personality, and knowledge turned what could have been a simple sightseeing walk into a fascinating journey through Antalya’s past.
Our small group made the experience feel almost private as we wandered through historic streets filled with colorful buildings, hidden corners, and centuries-old architecture. We visited the Antalya Clock Tower, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, standing proudly as a reminder of its Ottoman influence.
From there, we explored Yivli Minare Mosque, famous for its unique fluted minaret decorated with beautiful blue-green tiles. Each landmark revealed another piece of Antalya’s story, blending Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and modern Turkish influences together.
One of our favorite areas was Kaleiçi Marina, where historic buildings meet the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. The contrast between ancient stone walls, colorful boats, and bright blue water created one of those moments where you truly appreciate where you are.
We also visited the Antalya Ethnography Museum, which provided a deeper look into traditional Ottoman life, and Hıdırlık Tower, a Roman-era structure overlooking the coastline with incredible views.
“Kaleiçi reminded us that the best travel moments are often found down the quiet streets you almost walk past.”
However, some of the best moments weren’t necessarily the famous landmarks—they were the quiet streets, charming corners, and little details we would have missed without a guide. Hesapçı Sokak quickly became a favorite, filled with history and character.
We ended the experience with Turkish desserts at Miklaç Işıklar, the perfect sweet ending to a day spent uncovering Antalya’s culture.

Day 3
A Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Over Pamukkale
Our third day began painfully early—with a 1 a.m. alarm. Normally, waking up at that hour sounds impossible, but this was for something we had dreamed about: a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Pamukkale.
The journey was long, and sleep was limited, but all of that disappeared the moment we saw the balloons preparing for flight. Watching them slowly inflate in the darkness while the sky began changing colors created a sense of excitement that made the early wake-up completely worth it.
Once we lifted into the air, everything became peaceful. Floating above Pamukkale’s famous white travertine terraces and turquoise pools felt almost unreal. The landscape below looked like another planet, with bright white formations stretching across the earth while the sunrise painted everything in soft golden light.
“Pamukkale was the bucket-list moment of the trip — peaceful, surreal, and completely worth the early wake-up call.”
There was something magical about the quietness of it all—the slow movement of the balloon, the endless views surrounding us, and the feeling of checking off a true bucket-list experience together during our honeymoon.
The balloon ride itself was absolutely the highlight of the day. The rest of the tour was a little more complicated. Afterward, there were several stops that felt more focused on shopping, including an onyx demonstration, and some additional fees and information weren’t as clear as we would have liked.
The famous thermal pools were beautiful but much more crowded than expected, and Cleopatra’s Pool required an extra entrance fee. Lunch was also disappointing, and the long, hot ride back to Antalya left us completely exhausted.
Even with those drawbacks, the hot air balloon experience was unforgettable. It was one of those moments where the main event was so incredible that the challenges surrounding it became just another part of the travel story.

Day 4
One Last Day of Luxury Before Saying Goodbye
After the whirlwind adventure of Pamukkale, our final day in Antalya was dedicated to exactly what honeymoons are meant for—slowing down, relaxing, and enjoying every last moment.
We returned to everything we loved about Lara Barut Collection: peaceful mornings, poolside lounging, incredible meals, and the feeling of having nowhere else we needed to be.
After several days of exploring, it felt amazing to simply enjoy the resort. We spent time by the water, ordered drinks, wandered the beautiful property, and treated ourselves to another spa experience. The level of service continued to impress us, from the restaurants to the staff who made everything feel effortless.
“Turkey gave us the perfect honeymoon mix: luxury, culture, adventure, and time to slow down together.”
Our final dinners were some of our favorites, filled with beautiful desserts, delicious food, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want time to slow down. The perfect ending came during our last evening, sitting outside while live music filled the warm Turkish night air.
It was one of those quiet travel moments that stays with you—not because it was the biggest adventure, but because it was the perfect ending.
Turkey gave us everything we wanted from our honeymoon: relaxation, culture, history, adventure, and memories we will talk about for years. From wandering Antalya’s ancient streets to floating above Pamukkale at sunrise and spending slow days beside the Mediterranean, it was the perfect beginning to our next chapter together.

Travel Tips
Tips for Planning Your Antalya Trip
✈️ Flights & Transportation
- Arrange airport transfers ahead of time. Late-night arrivals can be stressful, and having transportation waiting made our 2 a.m. arrival effortless.
- Allow extra time for connections. Flight delays through Istanbul are possible, so avoid scheduling anything important immediately after landing.
- Double-check baggage areas. Antalya Airport may separate luggage depending on your connection, so check nearby belts if your bags don’t appear.
🏖️ Resort Planning
- Give yourself time to actually enjoy the resort. Lara Barut Collection had so much to offer that we extended our stay an extra night.
- Explore before making plans. Between the pools, beach, restaurants, activities, shows, and spa, there is plenty to do without leaving the property.
- Take advantage of concierge services. Having someone available for questions, reservations, and recommendations made the stay even smoother.
🏛️ Tours & Sightseeing
- Book a guide for Kaleiçi Old Town. Antalya has thousands of years of history, and having a knowledgeable guide completely changed the experience.
- Leave time to wander. Some of the best moments came from exploring quiet streets, hidden corners, and scenic viewpoints.
- Bring comfortable shoes. Old Town has uneven stone streets and lots of walking, especially around historic landmarks.
🎈 Visiting Pamukkale
- Research your tour carefully. The sunrise balloon ride was unforgettable, but some stops afterward felt more focused on shopping than sightseeing.
- Prepare for an extremely early morning. Balloon tours require middle-of-the-night pickups, but the sunrise views make the lost sleep worth it.
- Check what is included. Entrance fees, Cleopatra’s Pool, meals, and extra activities may cost more depending on your tour.
